Texas Law Shield Overview

Texas Law Shield is a membership program that serves Texas and national clients. The primary purpose is to provide for a legal defense in the event that a member needs it. Legal defense can be in relation to criminal and civil matters involving "Use Of Force." In other words, Texas Law Shield’s purpose is to help members should they find themselves in a situation where they need a lawyer related to the use of legal force under applicable law in Texas or other states , or federal law.
To that end – it is a legal service industry provider with members in the Texas market and throughout the United States. It handles legal matters for its members in association with their incurred legal costs against them in connection with "Use Of Force" situations.

Basic Membership Fees

The costs of the Texas Law Shield membership come as a welcome surprise to many that find that they are relatively low when compared to the costs associated with hiring a lawyer. Generally, the costs don’t change from state to state—for the most part, Texas Law Shield just strives to make self-defense affordable for all.
The most basic membership level is for one person at $149 a year, which breaks down to $12.42 a month, or $0.41 a day. For $189 a year you can sign up as a dual (two people) member, which breaks down to $15.74 a month, or $0.52 a day, or joint members at $249 a year, which breaks down to $20.74 a month, or $0.69 a day. Spouses, who are dual members, receive the benefit of a $10 spouse discount. So, for a husband and wife, the price increases to $269 per year, versus $299. This increases to $229, versus $249, every month, or $7.61 per day, versus $9.49.
As you can see, a Texas Law Shield membership is fairly affordable for all three levels.

Optional Add-Ons and Upgrades

Texas Law Shield members have several optional services that can be added to their plan, including: Free unlimited multi-state protection for a spouse, spouse plus1, or a head of household is included in all Texas Law Shield contracts. Optional multi-state protection offers protection in any state within the United States of America for $10.00 per plan year. Membership for additional family members is $50.00 per plan year for a spouse, spouse plus1, and head of household. Adult dependent children or children under the age of 18 are $25.00 per plan year.

Affordable Payments

Texas Law Shield Membership offers several payment plans for your convenience. You can pay monthly, quarterly, or yearly. Each plan covers an individual as a Texas law shield member; and if you have a spouse or child under the age of 18, they can be part of your plan for an additional fee. If you purchase a membership for one full year, you will save a few dollars, but the real benefit is that your membership will not be increased again for another 3 years. On the other hand, if you are not ready to commit to a full year, you can pay on a month-to-month basis.

Cost Comparison with Other Plans

Compared to other legal defense plans, Texas Law Shield’s $96 to $150 per year remains a bargain for their 24/7 local attorney coverage. Whether you live in a state with non-standard gun laws such as California or Massachusetts or not, the combination of commission-free membership and low rates saves our members’ money. Regardless of the outcome, members will not have to worry about hiring lawyers who charge by the hour; attorneys will represent members through administrative reviews, criminal investigations, and civil proceedings at no additional charge.
In contrast, USCCA membership ranges from $147 to $247 per year plus a $45 enrollment fee, and coverage includes felony defense of up to $250,000 in Illinois, $150,000 in California, and $100,000 in other states . While USCCA membership does include insurance for up to $1,000,000 in civil liability expenses for acts of self-defense when the owner is covered, other scenarios such as use of NFA or fully automatic firearms will not be covered.
Apaulsafesuit membership fees are calculated for each individual member of a family and range from $50 to $130 per $250,000 of coverage. Memberships cover up to $250,000 in felony defense, but once the limit is reached, members are responsible for costs above their coverage amount.
The NRA has a $10 per year membership fee. Those who join through the Annual Members Program can purchase the DefenderPlan at $29 per year. The defender plan protects fees of up to $10,000 for use of a firearm in self-defense and up to $50,000 for wrongful incarceration.

Worth the Money: Cost vs Value

There are a number of benefits that members can expect for their investment. Perhaps the most significant is the peace of mind that comes with knowing that no matter what the situation is, the questions and the care are not going to cost you anything. There is no financial barrier to talking to someone about even the smallest issue, especially when it comes to preserving your rights or freedom. That is invaluable.
Not only do you have the money thing taken care of, you also have your legal needs covered in quite remarkable detail. In essence, you are signed up to a deal where you get a lot of legal support from top lawyers, but you don’t have to pay for any of it. If you ever end up in a situation that involves legal representation in court, The Texas Law Shield will see that you have everything you need to maintain your defense or prosecute your case. That contribution gives you an absolute peace of mind on all of the monetary related issues that surround criminal law. While an ordinary legal client has to make sacrifices in other areas of his own budget to afford the next hour of time with his attorney, that is not an issue for a Texas Law Shield membership holder.
You also get other benefits that go beyond the simple inclusion of lawyers in your legal representation. For example, you also get access through the company for what some refer – accurately or not – as the "lawyer tip line." This is essentially a pre-determined time frame during which members get access to lawyers and other legal experts at discounted rates. It allows you to talk to the kinds of experts who cost normal clients around a thousand dollars an hour. If you have access to them once a year, that is a huge bonus. Now you can spend quite a bit of time with the kind of people who usually cost serious money to talk to, and you can do it through this discounted access.

Cost Estimates for Members

Texas Law Shield has provided extensive legal defense services to members who have been found not guilty of murder, capital murder, manslaughter, aggravated assault, and other violent and other felonies. The legal expenditure has arisen from legal services in any of the following circumstances: Most recently, for example, Texas Law Shield spent an estimated $70,000 to litigate a case against a member who used a firearm to defend himself from being beaten by a mob. The member was found not guilty of aggravated assault. A quick review of a case law website confirmed that such cases are not uncommon in Texas. Still more examples:
Marc and his buddies were wresting some alligators in the Texas heat on Marco Grande Ranch. One of Marc’s friends angrily yelled for one of the other buddies to stop crushing his shotgun scabbard. The friend misinterpreted the shout as an aggressive verbalization and responded by punching the first man in the mouth. Marc pulled out his pistol and calmly warned the friend to back off. Seeing the gun, the second man immediately backed off. The Security and Safety Committee investigated the incident. At its conclusion, Travis, the victim of the beating, was banned for life from Marco Grande Ranch. The victim accused Marc of brandishing a gun. If Travis had not been a member of the ranch, the charges would have been aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. As it stands, Texas Law Shield spent $30 , 000 defending Marc. Gerald worked at a Cedar Park convenience store. One weekend night, Gerald walked out of the store with a soda in hand, thinking about the beer he had already downed. He met four men ahead of him. He tried to pass, but one of the men, Jason, put his arm around Gerald, thinking it was funny. Gerald shrugged Jason off, but Jason insisted that Gerald accept a drink of beer instead of soda. Gerald wanted to refuse but reluctantly accepted a swig from Jason’s beer. Gerald smacked Jason’s hand. Jason threw the beer bottle at Gerald; the bottle broke on the ground and sprang up, hitting Gerald’s arm. Jason yelled "Murderer!" Gerald punched Jason in the mouth, and Jason bled out. Jason died from the severe head trauma Gerald caused. Travis is charged with murder and aggravated assault. Texas Law Shield spent about $40,000 defending Gerald against both charges. It is important to note that the assault charge can be a third degree felony, depending on whether or not Gerald’s punch was actually considered as a deadly weapon. How do these examples help make sense of a $10,000 to $80,000 cost for legal services provided to members caught up in similar circumstances? Essentially, it means that under the Texas Law Shield plan, there is no cap on legal expense payments, and there is also no different in price based on circumstance—even though the difference in circumstance may affect the amount of legal work that might need to be done.
